Nichetel
About

A research desk for niches no one else covers.

Nichetel publishes short, opinionated research reports for the kind of small professional-services firm that finds Bloomberg expensive and Statista shallow.

Why this exists

The gap, named.

The market intelligence industry sells two things: enterprise data feeds at €25,000 a year, and aggregated statistics dashboards that show you a chart without telling you what to do. Both are real products. Neither helps a five-partner accountancy firm that wants to know which AI bookkeeping tool to switch to this quarter.

We started Nichetel because the reports that small operators need don't get written. They take ten days to research and produce, and they sell to a handful of buyers per quarter. That's not enough to justify an enterprise sales motion. And it's too specialised for an aggregator's content treadmill. We're betting that small audience × magazine pricing × honest writing is a real business.

How reports get made

The production process.

Each report goes through four stages: scoping, drafting, review, edit. We use AI to accelerate drafting. It generates candidate paragraphs from interview transcripts and source notes. Then a human editor rewrites it heavily until it reads like a research desk wrote it. Every final report passes an originality check before it goes on sale. If it fails, it doesn't ship.

We do this because the alternative (entirely-human research, slowly) doesn't scale to a €5 micro-brief, and the alternative-alternative (entirely-AI-generated copy) doesn't pass our editorial standard or the originality test. The middle path is honest about both.

The editorial standard

What we won't publish.

    I.

    No unsourced claims.

Every number, every quoted price, every comparative statement traces back to a primary source or to our own first-hand testing. The methodology appendix names them.

    II.

    No re-skinned content.

We won't publish a report that's largely a rearrangement of someone else's research. If we cite, we cite. And we add original analysis on top.

    III.

    No undated reports.

Every report carries an "Updated YYYY-MM-DD" stamp. We move it only when the report has actually been edited. Stale evergreen content with no date attached is one of the diseases of this industry.
