Start with the decision

Can this scope fit the proposed fee and margin?

Freelancers and small agencies quoting a defined project.

From input to next step.

  1. 01

    Break down the work

List deliverables you can accept or reject: discovery, production, reviews and handover. Split uncertain tasks rather than hiding them inside one large estimate.

  2. 02

    Enter delivery costs

Use the loaded cost of an hour, not the rate you hope to bill. Enter external costs once. Keep tax outside this workbook; agree how it will be shown on the actual quote.

  3. 03

    Set the decision

Compare the suggested fee with the client budget. Reduce or stage the scope if the gap is too large. A margin target is a planning assumption, not a promised outcome.

A look inside

The example, in plain sight.

Fictional values from the workbook. Amounts are illustrative currency units, not a market rate or a customer result.

Before you use the result.

  • Include meetings and review rounds in the hours.
  • A 30% margin is not a 30% markup. The fee divides cost by one minus margin.
  • Exclude unapproved extras and name the acceptance conditions.

This is an estimating tool. It does not create a contract, calculate tax or establish a market rate.

A few useful answers.
