Start with the decision

Which completed work types need a revised estimating assumption?

Freelancers improving their own future estimates.

From input to next step.

  1. 01

    Match the work

Choose completed tasks with comparable scope and note changes separately. Do not blend unlike projects into one multiplier.

  2. 02

    Reconcile the time

Use actual recorded hours and the original estimate. Include review time consistently.

  3. 03

    Adjust cautiously

Investigate the reason for variance and test a revised assumption on the next similar estimate. Retain the original history.

A look inside

The example, in plain sight.

Fictional values from the workbook. Amounts are illustrative currency units, not a market rate or a customer result.

Before you use the result.

  • Zero estimated hours leaves ratios unavailable.
  • Scope change is not necessarily estimating error.
  • Do not add task percentages together.

A historical calibration aid, not a universal productivity benchmark.
